APPLICATION SCHEDULE
If you wish to run the Tokyo Marathon as a charity runner for Room to Read Japan, you will need to bid for your bib on a platform provided by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation. For detailed procedures, please refer to the TMF website.
Q: How much is Room to Read’s minimum bidding rate?
A: Please contact us at jp.marathon@roomtoread.com. We cannot disclose information until the set date decided by TMF.
Q: When is the application period for charity runners?
A: The application will be open in late June and will last for two weeks. The detailed duration will be available in June.
Q: How can I know if I win the bib?
A: Applicants who win bibs will receive an email from Room to Read in late July to August. The detailed duration will be available in summer.
Q: How do you select runners?
A: Selection is made based on the pledged donation amount and the content of the “Thoughts on Charity & Messages” entered at the time of application.
Q: Can I apply after the application period?
A: No. Runners must apply in person through the Tokyo Marathon Foundation’s platform during the application period. Please make sure to specify “Room to Read Japan” as the recipient. Last year, there was a runner who made a mistake in supporting organization. Please note that once the application is submitted, it cannot be corrected.
MAKE A DONATION FOR YOUR BIB
After applicants are selected as charity runners (around late July), runners are required to make pledged donations within a certain period of time. Here are FAQs regarding donation settlement.
Q: Do I have to donate the full amount by myself?
A: Donations made through crowdfunding or matching donations from companies are also eligible as charity runner contributions.

Q: Are donations eligible for tax deductions?
A: Room to Read is a certified charity in many regions. Please check our website to see if your donation is eligible for tax deductions.
Note: If you wish to receive a donation receipt in Japan, settle your payment in Japanese yen. US dollars and other non-Japanese yen currencies cannot be used for donation receipts applicable in Japan.
Q: In which currencies does Room to Read accept donations?
A: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, HKD, USD, JPY. Ensure that the currency of your donation matches the country for which you will be applying for tax deductions.
Q: How can I pay for my donation?
A: If selected as a Room to Read charity runner, the Tokyo Marathon Foundation will send you a dedicated payment page (credit card payment: VISA, AMEX, Master). Alternatively, we accept bank transfers and checks. Please email us for details.
Q: I can’t make a donation in full by the due date. What can I do?
A: If a schedule extension is necessary due to matching gift timing, inform us. We’ll arrange a special treatment. However, all runners are expected to make full payment by the due date. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the bib.
TRANSFER OF THE BIB
Q: I won the bib but want to give it to others. Can I change the runner?
A: No, the bib is strictly allocated to the person who applied.
Q: Due to injury or a change of plans, I am unable to run on the day of the event. Can I transfer my entry to the following year?
A: Unfortunately, no. Please apply again the following year and make a donation for your bib.
Q: Due to injury or a change in plans, I am unable to run on the day of the tournament. I would like my donation refunded.
A: One slot in the race is equivalent to one year of education for 40 children. Refunding the donation due to personal reasons is detrimental to the beneficiaries. If a refund is absolutely necessary, please contact us separately.

Q: 申し込み期間後に申し込むことはできますか？
A: いいえ。ランナーは、申し込み期間中に東京マラソン財団のプラットフォームを通じて直接申し込む必要があります。「ルーム・トゥ・リード・ジャパン」を受取人として指定してください。昨年、サポート組織を間違えたランナーがいました。申し込みを送信すると、訂正できないことに注意してください。
寄付をする
チャリティランナーとして選択された応募者（7月下旬頃）は、一定期間内にご寄付の納付を行う必要があります。以下は、寄付決済に関するFAQです。
Q: 寄付をすべて自分で行わなければなりませんか？
A: クラウドファンディングや企業のマッチング寄付を通じて行われた寄付も、チャリティランナーの寄付として認められます！詳細については、japan@roomtoread.orgまでお問い合わせください。
Q: 寄付は税金控除の対象ですか？
A: はい。ルーム・トゥ・リード・ジャパンは認定NPO法人です。ご寄付は税控除の対象になります。
注：日本で寄付領収書を受け取る場合は、日本円での支払いを行ってください。米ドルや他の日本円以外の通貨では、日本で有効な寄付領収書は発行できません。
Q: どの通貨での寄付を受け付けていますか？

Q: 寄付はどのように支払えますか？

Q: 締め切りまでに寄付を完了できません。どうすればいいですか？
A: マッチングギフトのタイミングなどの理由でスケジュールの延長が必要な場合は、お知らせください。原則、締切までの寄付受付としています。支払いを完了しない場合は、ビブがキャンセルされます。
ビブの譲渡
Q: ビブを獲得しましたが、他の人に譲渡したいです。ランナーを変更できますか？
A: いいえ、ビブは申請者に割り当てられます。
Q: イベント当日に怪我や予定の変更で走れない場合、エントリーを翌年に転送できますか？
A: 申し訳ありませんが、できません。翌年に再度申し込み、寄付を行ってください。
Q: イベント当日に怪我や予定の変更で走れない場合、寄付を返金してもらいたいです。
A: 1スロットは40人の子供たちに1年分の教育に相当します。個人的な理由での寄付返金はお控えください。返金がどうしても必要な場合は、別途お問い合わせください。
