⼦どもの識字率と⼥⼦教育に焦点を当てた世界的な教育団体であるルーム・トゥ・リード（本部：サンフランシスコ／CEOギータ・ムラリ博⼠／以下、ルーム・トゥ・リード）は、2026年3⽉に、コールドウェル デール氏、コールドウェル 中島恵氏を新たにリージョナルボードメンバーに任命しました。
コールドウェル氏と中島氏が持つ豊富なリーダーシップ経験、グローバルな視点、そしてルーム・トゥ・リードのミッションへの深い共感は、日本における活動をさらに力強く推進する原動力となります。両氏とともに、識字能力の格差とジェンダー不平等のない世界の実現に向けて歩みを進めてまいります。
＜コールドウェル デール氏略歴＞
モリソン・フォースター外国法事務弁護士事務所のパートナーであり、同事務所のエネルギーおよびデジタルインフラ部門の責任者を務める。また、同事務所の慈善活動部門である モリソン・フォースター財団において、財務委員会委員長および理事を務めるほか、コミュニティ・アドバイザリー・ボードのメンバーも務めている。1996年より東京オフィスに勤務し、2001年にパートナーに就任。1990年にアリゾナ大学で英文学の学士号を取得後、1994年にミネソタ大学ロースクールを最優秀成績で修了。
＜コールドウェル 中島恵氏略歴＞
約20年前、日本ではまだ本格的なファンドレイジング活動が一般的ではなかった頃、ルーム・トゥ・リード東京チャプターの立ち上げを支えた創設メンバーの一人。中島氏のリーダーシップのもと、東京チャプターのイベントに継続的に関わるボランティアは、当初の8名から数百名規模へと大きく成長した。この時期に始動した取り組みには、現在も続く年次ガライベントなどが含まれており、こうした活動やメディアでの注目が、その後のチャプターの発展を支える重要な礎となった。ルーム・トゥ・リード参画以前は、日米の広告代理店にてアカウントエグゼクティブとして活躍し、日本市場における海外ブランドの価値向上に携わる。三児の母として、チャリティ活動およびキャリアの第一線から一時離れていたが、このたびリージョナルボードメンバーとして再びルーム・トゥ・リードに関わることを、心から嬉しく思っている。

Committees/Regional Boards – Room to Read
Room to Read, a global nonprofit organization focused on children’s literacy and girls’ education (CEO: Dr. Geetha Murali), appointed Dale Caldwell and Megumi Nakajima-Caldwell to its Regional Board in March 2026.
With their extensive leadership experience, global perspectives, and deep commitment to Room to Read’s mission, Dale and Megumi will play an important role in advancing the organization’s work in Japan. Together, we look forward to accelerating our efforts toward a world where every child can read and where gender no longer determines a child’s opportunities.
Dale Caldwell and Megumi Nakajima-Caldwell
Dale is a partner with the law firm Morrison & Foerster where he is head of the firm’s Energy and Digital Infrastructure practices. Dale is also the Finance Committee Chair for, and member of the Board of Directors of, the Morrison & Foerster Foundation, the firm’s charitable giving arm, and a member of the firm’s Community Advisory Board. Dale has worked in the firm’s Tokyo office since 1996 and became partner in 2001. Dale received a bachelor of arts in English Literature from the University of Arizona in 1990, and graduated, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1994.
Megumi is a founding member of Room to Read Japan, having helped launch the Tokyo Chapter over 20 years ago when active fund raising was still new to Japan. Under Meg’s leadership, the number of volunteers regularly participating in Tokyo Chapter events expanded from the original eight members to several hundred. The activities launched during this time – including the annual gala – and the resulting media attention helped set the path to where the Chapter is today. Prior to her time with Room to Read, Meg was an account executive for Japanese and U.S. advertising agencies, specializing in building brand value in Japan for foreign products. After taking a hiatus from charitable and professional work to raise three children, Meg is excited to rejoin Room to Read as a member of the Regional Board.
