The Tokyo Marathon 2023, to which Room to Read Japan has been selected as a donor organization, was held on Sunday, March 5!
The Tokyo Marathon attracts runners from all over the world as the Abbott World Marathon Majors. This year’s event was held on a conventional scale for the first time in four years, with approximately 37,500 runners. Of these, 60 runners from 19 countries represented Room to Read.
The runners set out from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building at 9:10 a.m. Many volunteer supporters, including members from ABeam Consulting, came to cheer on the runners at the halfway point.
Donations from this year’s charity run will provide a year’s worth of literacy education for more than 1,500 children in low-income communities.
